Our History and Progress - Old Marine Market Place to Tin City
In October 1976, THE NAPLES STAR announced the development of Old Marine Market Place - a theme shopping bazaar being built on the site of a 1920's clam shelling and oyster processing plant incorporating waterfront buildings once used for the boat building and maintenance industry. The bazaar was to capture the rustic maritime spirit of what was once the center of Naples' fishing industry.
As construction progressed, 7 waterfront buildings that were
once a hodgepodge of corrugated iron and wood structures
began to take shape. The combination of sturdy old
structures, nostalgia and modern stores came to life as The
Old Marine Marketplace.
Now, the evolution is Tin City Waterfront Shops &
Restaurants. A mixture of creative boutiques and great
restaurants where you can shop for local treasures, clothing
and collectibles while enjoying the historical surroundings.
Today's Tin City is a blend of past and present. Old and new.
Yesterday and today.
